King Abdulaziz University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the
General Authority for Defense Development (GADD) to strengthen collaboration in
research, development, and innovation in defense technologies and systems. This
partnership supports national capabilities in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and its
ambition to build an advanced and sustainable defense sector.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Dr. Faleh bin Abdullah Al-Suleiman, Governor of
GADD, and Prof. Amin bin Yousef Noaman, Vice President for Graduate Studies and
Scientific Research at King Abdulaziz University. The agreement reflects a shared
commitment to expanding cooperation between government institutions and
academia, leveraging research outputs to support national priorities.
The memorandum focuses on building a collaborative framework to develop defense
technologies, enhance research infrastructure, guide R&D toward defense
applications, and nurture specialized national talent.
Key areas of collaboration include knowledge exchange, technical consultancy, and
technology transfer, as well as data sharing on research capabilities and the
organization of scientific workshops and seminars, ensuring alignment between
academic research and the evolving needs of the defense sector.
This partnership underscores GADD’s role in enabling the national defense R&D
ecosystem and promoting technological self-reliance, while also reinforcing King
Abdulaziz University’s mission to empower national talent and lead in innovation,
contributing to the Kingdom’s position in advanced technology domains.
